BURLINGTON, WI (Tuesday, August 19, 2008) – The tenth event of the 2008 season for the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment is now in the record books with Donny Reuvers picking up his third win of the season in front of a large crowd of 3,800. The Shakopee 100 event really made a difference in the point standings with four events remaining.

ONCE AGAIN, QUALIFYING WAS IMPORTANT

Typically, qualifying is not as exciting as an actual race to some fans. But, this year in the ASAMT, qualifying is as equally important as to the finish of a race.

Travis Sauter collected his second ever ECHO Power Blower by setting a new ASAMT track record time of 13.354 seconds at Raceway Park. In fact, the top eight in qualifying were under the old mark set last year by Dan Fredrickson who had a time of 13.493 seconds.

Bryan Roach beat Nick Murgic for the 16th qualifying spot into the main event by .007 seconds. Murgic did win his qualifier heat and came back to finish ninth in the 100-lap feature while Roach finished 14th.

The entire field was separated by .537 seconds.

FEATURE RESULTS

By: Kevin Ramsell
SHAKOPEE, MN (Sunday, August 17, 2008) – Donny Reuvers is a four-time defending track champion at Raceway Park in Shakopee, MN. Tonight, he showed why as he collected his third American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment win of the season by winning the Shakopee 100 and gained valuable points on Dan Fredrickson.

“It was awesome; we had a really good car. We kind of screwed up in qualifying a little bit and I didn’t qualify as well as we should,” Reuvers stated in victory lane. “But that put on the front row but fortunately that put us on the front row which helped for the race.”

With fast qualifier Travis Sauter rolling a three and causing the top eleven to invert, that put Reuvers on the outside of the front row for the 100-lap main event and go wire-to-wire in the win.

Current ASAMT point leader Dan Fredrickson started eighth and was running a steady race working his way up to sixth. But with 10 laps to go, smoke started coming from his car and he would pull off two laps later allowing Reuvers to gain valuable points.

Fan Information for the Shakopee 100

By: Kevin Ramsell
BURLINGTON, WI (Monday, August 11, 2008) – As the sun sets and the shadows of the roller coasters from nearby Valley Fair cast over Raceway Park, the Touring Stars of the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment will be preparing for their 10th battle of the 2008 season on the ¼-mile asphalt oval in Shakopee, MN.

Last year’s race saw Dan Fredrickson battle with Adam Royle in the closing laps of the 100-lap event while Nathan Haseleu stretched a point lead over Donny Reuvers en route to becoming the first champion in front of a standing room only crowd.

So far this season, the first nine ASAMT events have seen six different drivers capture a win. Along with that at most of the events, over half of the field finish ahead of where they have started. For example, at the SCAG Power Equipment Dixieland 150 at Wisconsin International Raceway, 14 of the 26 starters finished ahead of where they started with an average of 6.714 places.

BURLINGTON, WI (Friday, August 08, 2008) – It has become a border battle in the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Power Equipment. So far this season, six of the nine events have been won by Minnesota based drivers. But it has been Wisconsin drivers taking the last three.

Dan Fredrickson, current ASAMT point leader, started the Minnesota dominance with his win at Raceway Park in Shakopee, MN in 2007 by claiming the last two events of the 2007 season.

That dominance continued into the 2008 season with Jake Ryan taking the season opening win at Elko Speedway and Fredrickson keeping the streak alive by winning at Madison International Speedway.

Jonathan Eilen did his part by winning at Jefferson Speedway then Donny Reuvers took over by winning at Dells Raceway Park and Grundy County Speedway. Fredrickson then had a dominating performance at I-94 Raceway.

But that is where the Minnesota streak ended as Steve Carlson started a Wisconsin streak by winning at Hawkeye Downs and then Tim Schendel followed that up less than 48 hours later by winning at Iowa Speedway.
