FREDRICKSON’S PRE-SEASON GOAL IS LOOKING GOOD AT THE HALFWAY MARK OF THE ASAMT SEASON

By: Kevin Ramsell
BURLINGTON, WI (Thursday, July 24, 2008) - “Going into this season, if we get a good start and have a good time at what we are doing, we will make a run for the points,” Dan Fredrickson stated back in January at the Midwest Motorsports Auction in Rockford, IL. As the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment surpasses the halfway mark of the 2008 season, it’s appearing the Fredickson is on track to his pre-season thought.

Fredrickson currently holds 58-point lead over fellow Minnesota rival Donny Reuvers with six events remaining on the 2008 schedule. He started off his “Western Swing” weekend with a strong third place finish in the Keith Fleck Miller 100 at Hawkeye Downs on Friday night, and finished 12th in the Rasmussen Group Twin 75’s on Sunday at Iowa Speedway.

Reuvers had a steady weekend as he finished fourth at each of the Iowa events.

Travis Sauter quietly sits in third only 162 points behind Fredrickson. He collected another top-five finish with his 5th place run at Hawkeye and was a 10th place finish at Iowa Speedway.

Tim Schendel’s win at Iowa gave his Iron Eagle Racing team the boost they were looking for after a tough start to the season. He currently sits fourth in points, 217 points back of the leader. Schendel finished 12th at Hawkeye on Friday night.

Only one point separates Schendel from Jamie Iverson, who is fifth, 218 points back. Iverson picked up a pair of top-ten finishes this past weekend to make the nine hour drive from Escanaba, MI a worthwhile trip. He finished seventh at Hawkeye and sixth at Iowa Speedway.

Another driver that had a good weekend was Jonathen Eilen who currently sits sixth only 243 points back. He finished seventh on Friday night and held off Matt Kenseth for the runner-up spot to Schendel at Sunday’s inaguaural event at Iowa Speedway.

Andrew Morrissey made a fine recovery after missing the feature field at I-94 Raceway back on July 5th. He is seventh in points, one point behind Eilen and only 244 points back from Fredrickson. He was 9th at Hawkeye and 13th at Iowa.

Only five points behind Morrissey is Blake Horstman as he is 249 points behind Fredrickson after eight events. Horstman also picked up a pair of top ten’s this past weekend with a sixth place finish at Hawkeye and an eighth place finish at Iowa.

Chris Wimmer is only four points behind Horstman and 253 back from Fredrickson, sitting ninth in points. Transmission problems at Hawkeye gave him a 23rd place finish, but he rebounded to a fifth place finish at Iowa Speedway.

2007 ASAMT Champion Nathan Haseleu rounds out the top-ten as he is 285 points behind Fredrickson with six events remaining. Haseleu finished 10th at Hawkeye and 20th at Iowa after falling out in the late going with mechanical problems.

The ASAMT teams are now preparing for the 27th Annual SCAG Power Equipment Dixieland 150 on Tuesday, August 5th at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, WI. Kyle Busch will be back to defend his 2007 win at WIR.
